God Centered Design

Created Jul 24, 2026, 10:27 AM · Updated Jul 24, 2026, 10:27 AM

Design life and work around God glory first - not crowd applause, ego, or comfort.

Key Concept

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.Matthew 5:14-16 NASB1995

  • Good works visible so the Father gets glory - build for His name, not my brand.
  • Level 1: Do good so people thank God - like sharing lunch so others praise the cook, not clap for you.
  • Level 2: Build and serve so people see God behind the work - like a sign that points to the source, not your face on the poster.
  • Level 3: Visible good works aim glory upward - when the crowd applauds you instead of the Father, the design drifted off course.
  • Level 4: Before you publish or plan, ask whether the work makes the Father visible - not whether it builds your name.
  • Level 5: Seek the Kingdom First is the priority filter; Love Your Neighbor keeps it from becoming selfish spirituality.
  • A calendar built for applause still feels empty on Monday.
  • Seek the Kingdom First is the priority filter; Love Your Neighbor keeps it from becoming selfish spirituality.

Examples

  • The youth event looked great in parent photos but nobody prayed afterward - God-centered design meant cutting one performance block for small groups and Scripture.
  • My notes garden started chasing traffic instead of clarity - God-centered design was one question before publish: does this help someone know Christ or live like Him, or is it just my brand?

Retheming Hanamikoji as Duopoly

I love Hanamikoji for the mechanics, not the geisha art. Duopoly is my build log - fewer components, dull flags, same hook without the illustration.

One Sheet, Eight Pages: Why I Use a 1-Page Zine for Rules Booklets

One sheet of paper, folded into an eight-page booklet. I use it for board game rules and quick guides that fit in a pocket or game box.

The Miracle of Isaiah David

The Miracle of Isaiah David

On May 8, 2020, Pia and I found out she was pregnant and gave birth to our son the same day. Years later, that sentence still doesn't feel real.
