Eternal life is Christ's gift received by faith alone, not wages for commandments, principles, or good works.

“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. • Hear Christ's word and believe - you have crossed from death to life; judgment is not hanging over your head.
• Level 1: Hear Jesus and believe - you walked out free because the fine was paid, like someone else covered the bill.
• Level 2: Free grace is like a ticket already bought - belief crosses from death to life now, not after you perform enough to deserve the seat.
• Level 3: Because salvation is gift not wages, good works follow grace - they do not purchase the ticket or replace assurance with a scorecard.
• Level 4: Rest on the promise today when the week was ugly - assurance is not a scorecard; works belong to the walk after, not the price of entry.
• Level 5: Good works follow the gift - Sanctification and Discipleship belong to the walk after Justification; Assurance rests on the promise, not anxiety about earning care.
• Grace is a gift never earned - Christ paid what could not be paid.
• Paul says the same gift out loud - saved by grace through faith, not your works, so nobody brags their way in.
• Faith credited as righteousness - trust, not a merit report card, is what God counts.
• Good works come after the gift - created in Christ for them, not to buy the ticket.
• Justification is free and finished at faith; Sanctification, Discipleship, and forgiveness toward others belong to the walk after.

Examples

• A teammate listed every good deed this month like it was his ticket to heaven - I trust Christ's promise for eternal life, not my report card from the season.
• My kid thinks he has to be extra good the week before his birthday to deserve presents - grace does not work that way with God either; the gift is already decided before the behavior.
