- Paul answers how you are saved: trust Christ, not wages.
- James answers what living faith looks like: Abraham offered Isaac - faith already counted him righteous before God, then action showed that faith before people.
- Dead faith in James is inactive faith that sits unused - not fake faith that never saved.
- Works answer grace already received - they may back up a claim; they never ground Assurance or buy Justification.
- Grateful Obedience names the motive: thanks after the gift, not a price tag on heaven.
Level 1 - Recognize
Faith and works together mean faith alone saves and works answer that gift - hearing Jesus without doing is sand, not rock.
Level 2 - Explain
Hearing Jesus without doing is a drawing that collapses when weather turns. Works answer grace already received - they do not buy the house.
Level 3 - Use
Pick one command you heard this week and do it before you add another study note - hearing alone is sand.
Level 4 - Connect
Rock is faith in Christ; sand is hear-only - works may back up faith before people; they never purchase heaven or ground assurance.
Level 5 - Create
Create a teaching that keeps Paul on salvation and James on living faith distinct. Apply both without making works the price of heaven.

- Confident I am saved but the same selfish pattern untouched - James asks if faith shows up, not try harder to earn heaven.
